5 reasons to see a Progress dietitian beyond the calories!

Is it time to visit with a registered dietitian nutritionist at Progress? How will you know?  Maybe you are someone who has seen a dietitian in the past and was told to do this or don’t do that and follow a strict “diet” of a very specific amount of calories or macronutrients.  Or maybe you saw a dietitian and it didn’t help because you received all the information and know what to do but just can’t quite keep the momentum going on sustaining some goals. Is it time to balance your healthy lifestyle goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle momentum?  Yes! Check out the top 5 reasons to see a Progress dietitian:

  1. We will help you set lifestyle goals to attune to your hunger and fullness cues.  You may have to work on attuning and listening to your body cues again but that’s okay! Looking at hunger and fullness patterns with a dietitian can help you understand if you are truly hungry, how full you are getting while you are eating or if you are eating for other reasons.

  2. We will offer lifestyle and nutrition coaching specific to your individual needs and discuss how to bypass your specific obstacles. This is highly individualized care and it should be. Your well being throughout your lifestyle journey from past, present and to the future are all considered.

  3. We will offer you multiple food choices and not make you eat something you don’t like. We want you to enjoy your food and feel satisfied with your choices. Mostly, we want you to feel more energized and well! This could involve making peace with some foods, slowing down to eat or noticing if you are emotionally eating.

  4. We will be compassionate about your food and body relationship.  Everyone has rockstar days and not so much the rockstar days. It’s okay to not always be rocking it. Adopting the mantra “for the most part” is giving it your best!  Also, you’re usually pretty hard on yourself and it’s time to change your negative self-relationship towards a more positive self-relationship. Your emotional well-being is important to us.

  5. We want to empower you along your journey and be there to help you change up a snack or meal idea or recipes, offer up ways to increase water in your day, encourage self-care time, increase your daily fruit and vegetable intake or increase your movement and exercise. It’s also about getting enough rest and releasing some stress so you can be in a “for the most part” state-of-mind to be successful with your healthy lifestyle changes. Oh, and this takes time. Follow up with a Progress dietitian and be ready to receive some guidance and support!
